Dipity's Surf Rock Poetry Prize  (formerly known as the Symphonic Challenge) is our annual contest that runs at least once each year where poets get inspired by featured artists. Poets submit up to 3 poems for consideration, each one must be brand new, inspired by just one song from the artist's catalog. As of April 2025, with our relaunch, selected poems will be placed in either our print issue, online, or both, but one poem from each print issue focusing on one musician or band will be chosen for the cash award of $50. The featured artist for each call can be found under our Submit Work > Surf Rock Contest bucket and closes once we reach our issue caps. We also do monthly online spotlight support Surf Rock challenges, where we list up to 5 artists and do inspo poems based on just those artists' songs, which are also eligible to be placed in an upcoming print issue.  The Editor-in-Chief judges the contest along with the featured musician or band. 1st time to submit to a Surf Rock print call is $5, after that 2nd time or more it's $8—disabled writers can opt out of fees once per window, choosing the fee waiver.

MISSION STATEMENT

© 2022-PRESENT by Dipity Lit Mag

Dipity Lit Mag aims to shine a light on a wide array of underrepresented voices from different parts of the world including BIPOC, LGBTQ+, creators with disabilities, and also those from Instagram, or aspiring poets. We accept unpublished poetry of all styles i.e. haikus, art, prose, spoken audio, and short fiction stories. Short stories are the exception of previously published ones.  Additionally, we spotlight discovered unique writing styles through a bonus shares section and musicians who are supportive of the poetry world.  Dipity leverages visual morph art,  photography, and experimental digital collage work in each issue. Dipity values human kindness, exposing heartfelt truths, and taking time to have fun in writing while pushing traditional boundaries. You must write what you truly feel and release every slippery banana peel in this dimension.
