Eleanor Parker - Outerboros: Song & Music Video Review

Outerboros is comprised of Matt Swain and Kenneth Fletcher, they both are from New York City’s outer boroughs. In the past year, I stumbled upon their work, which sounds like modern-day extraterrestrial music or songs that capture the essence of Invasion of the Body Snatchers and Laserblast (1978). “Luxury Bunkers,” and the song I’ll be reviewing here “Eleanor Parker” are my faves of theirs thus far.

“Eleanor Parker” was released on February 28, 2025 and appears on their EP1. I prefer the original over the Bizarro alternate version in 2026, but love both. If you’re not familiar, Eleanor Parker was an American actress. Its great to see that a lot of their title releases are connected to places, people and things in their homebase. I love seeing artists pull in radio-like or old time TV speaker effects in their work too, and we see that with the song “Meadows.” While Eleanor Parker is strictly instrumental like quite a lot of their songs, it has a fast-paced intergalactic stream within it that makes me think of those fast-traveling pods that we often see sci-fi characters maneuvering at warp-speed, which I really love—the out-of-this-world and multi-dimensional atmosphere encompassing it.

They tend to showcase their live performances, Swain’s drumming, and on-the-spot production and Fletcher’s synth instrumentation work in most videos I’ve seen thus far and their visual pop-up reels often entail a space age city walk or transport visual. I think I would absolutely love to see their music visuals geared towards a short science fiction film series or end-to-end visualized story in a music video of theirs as well. However, watching live session video recordings back is equally engaging because they reveal the sheer creative and technical effort required to produce a song and the human spirit behind every song.

Fans of Jahrund, George Fitzgerald, Wicked Expectation, Strange Ranger and Phantoms—myself included—will undoubtedly find the electronic garage momentum of their songs quite captivating.
