In Three Thieves’ latest “Dust (Remix)” music video featuring Aniah Alves, we are taken to Utrecht, Netherlands, and quite cool abandoned remote building areas akin to the original Dust song back in 2024, which was filmed in Espinho, Portugal. I love the remixed version and the January 2026 music video a tad more than the original. The electronic trill we hear in the first 20 seconds and across the video is really unique. Aniah’s voice is stellar not just in the Dust (Remix), but several other collaborations with Three Thieves featuring her, including one of my faves, “Falling Down,” which has crossed over a million streams as of March 2026. I also love the songs “Caught a Feeling” and “Dreaming.” In the remix of “Dust,” we also see Aniah wearing an iconic Rolling Stones T-shirt throughout most of the video, reminding me of the song lyrics from “Rock and a Hard Place,” particularly:

"Give me the truth now, don’t want no shame

And chucking all the dust into our eyes"

Nearly all of us have been there, where someone we cared about lied to us or became completely untrustworthy at some point in our lives, and oftentimes that requires us to walk away and hold onto our own inner truth to move forward. Some relationships become unhealthy, crumble, or ultimately turn into dust whenever there is, of course, zero trust year after year. We gain valuable learning experiences from every relationship and connection we have, whether they are romantic or not. There is always a lesson of some sort, and unforgettable memories we carry through choices—both the good and the bad.

P.S. If you’d like to listen and watch the non-remixed version, it’s below too:

Three Thieves of the United Kingdom shares fun behind-the-scenes videos with Aniah regarding filming the music videos and track breakdown construction over on YouTube—def check those out sometime. I feel that T. Ismangil does a phenomenal job with the filming and editing on the Dust (Remix) and several other music videos for Three Thieves releases over the years. Lastly, I think it goes to show you that a series of rather unique filming locations outdoors and indoors around the world can really make music videos stand out, even when the singer is the only person in the video alone—you don’t always need a bunch of special effects or 30 or 50 people in a video to give it flair.

Although the film location connects to the song name, with abandoned building scenes, I would’ve loved to see the element of “dust” be a little bit more apparent within the music video itself a bit further, where Aniah maybe drops dust from her hands, her shadow or another silhouette walking away in the video somewhere to tie back to the song’s name further visually. The original song moves faster than the new remix, but the pace of the remix is much stronger to me, less of a tempo rush, and you can hear Aniah’s voice more in it. I love the electronic trill or waterfall tickle in the intro that we hear and wish there was more of it, or an electronic phase towards the end, a bit before the fade-out silence.

Nevertheless, this is a song I have had on repeat the past couple of weeks myself, and love it—considering I think a lot of times I had felt that aspect of trust completely lost and damaged amongst those I cared for deeply in recent years, it is hard to repair relationships when lies continue to happen. Still, as many have said in time, “the truth always prevails” about events we faced, and we should be around people who are upfront and honest with us or believe our heart. Again, I think we all have encountered Liar Liar (1997) Fletcher-like human beings, perhaps ones that we have written about in a poem or have faced in the past, so the song is rather relatable to me.

Memorable Lyrics:

"What do you learn when things fall apart?

Be true to yourself through the light and dark"
